Alaska Raceway Park
COIVD Update 2
We know a lot of you are working on your cars in prep for the season and there are a lot of questions.
NHRA chassis certifications will be rescheduled to a date later in the season due to the State of Alaska travel mandate. NHRA has a press release in regards to chassis certs & tech inspector certs here: http://nhraracer.com/content/general.asp?articleid=71819&zoneid=132
We understand that some of the safety equipment and racing supplies are a challenge to get shipped currently due to business and warehouse shutdowns. We will endeavor to be as flexible as we can in tech while maintaining the safety of our drivers.
Tires for the oval track have been ordered and should be here in a few weeks. If you ordered some look for an invoice coming to your inbox soon.
Things at the track are melting and drying up so we should be able to start repairs and maintenance shortly in prep for the soft season opening on Memorial Day weekend.
Behind the scenes, we are working on plans that will allow us to race as well as adhere to state mandates. We are consulting with local government and other tracks, as well as our sponsors to determine the best course of action.
We’d also like to hear from you – what are your thoughts on how we can operate while respecting social distancing and cover expenses? Please keep in mind that the pit gate fees cover payouts, insurance, and sanctioning typically, and the profit part of things comes from the spectators. Send your thoughts to BL@raceak.com, text or call 907.460.7223, or send a DM to the track. Collectively, we can come up with a plan for the 2020 season.
We appreciate all the support from our fans, our racers, our staff and our sponsors. The health and safety of Alaskans and the economy of our communities are our top concerns. So please, keep doing your part: stay safe, keep working on your cars, keep supporting each other and our business community, which is starting to open up. But also, please know this - we will race this season. The schedule and the experience will be different, but we will race. We anticipate getting an update schedule to you in the next week or so, after our plan has been reviewed by State of Alaska officials.
Thank you -
