$10,000 Payout for the Firecracker 100 Race
This Saturday the Late Model class on the NASCAR Oval track will have a special 100 lap race. Payout for this race is a cool $10,000 with the first place winner receiving $2,500. As an added bonus the top Late Model qualifier of the night will receive a $500. The Firecracker 100 is an impound race, which means drivers will be separated from their cars intermediately after qualifying. No one will be allowed in the impound area until lining up for the feature race and then only one driver and one pit crew member will have access to the car. Drivers will be able to adjust tire pressure but no other adjustments are allowed. There will be no heat race for the Late Model class. Drivers will practice, qualify, and impound until the start of the feature event. Another fun feature for the Firecracker 100 is the Lucky Dog Rule, which applies to the first car to get lapped. That one lucky driver will be able to restart in the tailback position of the lead lap at the restart, a 15 minute on track intermission, of lap 51 and not be a lap down.
We will see everyone at the Yukon Equipment NASCAR Firecracker 100 race this Saturday, July 14. All event classes are running in addition to the Late Models, including Extreme Fun Center Baby Grands, Classic Country 100.9 Legends, and Thunder Stocks.
Gates at Alaska Raceway Park open at 3 p.m., followed by qualifying, and racing begins at 6 p.m. For more information about this weekend's events, visit our website at raceak.com.
